Why this site exists (and what it will never be)

I started heavy. Not a-few-pounds-to-lose heavy. Heavy enough that the standard training plans assume a body I did not have, and heavy enough that most of what is written about running, cycling and swimming starts a chapter ahead of where I actually was.

This site is the record of what happens next. The goal is a long-course triathlon. The route there is walking, then walk-running, then running; a bike I have to learn to sit on for hours; a pool; a gym; and the food and sleep that make any of it stick. I am writing it down as it happens because I could not find that record anywhere when I needed it.

What you will get here

  • Monthly training reports with the real numbers: distance, time, weight, sleep, and what went wrong.
  • Articles on the specific problems of training heavy: shoes that last, chafing, shins, saddle pain, breathing, and the first weeks in a pool.
  • Gear reviews written after months of use at my size, not after an unboxing.
  • A weekly email with one honest week and the training log spreadsheet I use.

What it will never be

  • Before-and-after photos. Progress here is logged, not staged.
  • A supplement shop, a coaching upsell or a protocol.
  • Advice. I am one person with one body; a doctor should be in your corner before you copy anything.
  • Sponsored results. Affiliate links are disclosed and never decide what gets written.

How to follow

Start with the Start Here page, then pick a pillar. The first monthly report goes up as soon as the first full month is logged. If you started heavy too, the contact page is open. Tell me what you want written about first.
