I’m Christian. I started heavy, and I am training toward a long-course triathlon while writing down what actually happens along the way.
Started Heavy exists because the record I needed did not. When you are carrying a lot of weight, the standard advice starts a chapter ahead of you: the plans assume you can already run, the shoe reviews are written by 150-pound testers, and the transformation posts skip the two years in the middle. This site is the middle. The walk-run weeks, the plateau, the gear that failed, the first mile, the first race entry, and the numbers behind each of them.
How the site works
- Monthly training reports in The Journey: distance, time, weight, sleep, and what went wrong, with dates.
- Pillar articles on running, triathlon, strength, fuel and habits and gear, written from what I have done, not from what I have read.
- A weekly email with one honest week and the training log spreadsheet I use. Join on the newsletter page.
What I will not do
- Post before-and-after pairs. Progress is logged, not staged.
- Sell supplements, coaching or a protocol.
- Give you medical advice. I report one body. Talk to a doctor before you copy anything here.
- Let an affiliate link decide a review. See the disclosure.
The full timeline
The starting numbers, the dates and the milestones are being written up as a proper timeline and will live on this page. Until then, the monthly reports carry the numbers as they happen.
